Rheinmetall to Supply Laser Light Modules to Bundeswehr
Defense contractor Rheinmetall has secured a framework contract to supply laser light modules to the German armed forces. The agreement could be worth up to €178 million and covers up to 130,000 units.

Rheinmetall has signed a framework contract to supply laser light modules (LLM) to the German armed forces (Bundeswehr). The potential value of the contract is up to €178 million and includes an option for up to 130,000 devices.
Initially, 2,460 units will be delivered with a total value of €3 million. This represents the largest order to date for Rheinmetall’s Soldier Electronics division in Stockach. The framework agreement is initially set for seven years, with deliveries commencing this year.
The modules are a version of Rheinmetall's latest-generation LLM-VarioRay, designed to significantly enhance the capabilities of German soldiers operating in low-light conditions. The devices can be mounted via a standard interface onto all assault rifles, submachine guns, machine guns, and sniper rifles currently in service with the Bundeswehr.
Weighing approximately 250 grams including its bracket, the LLM-VarioRay features a powerful white light illuminator, a red light laser marker, an infrared laser marker, and an electrically focusable infrared illuminator. It can be used in conjunction with night vision and thermal imaging devices, enabling operations around the clock and in all weather conditions.
