Rheinmetall trains British forces in autonomous logistics
Rheinmetall has trained British Army personnel in autonomous logistics operations ahead of a major international exercise. The training culminated in the UK's first autonomous HX vehicle convoy, operated by British soldiers.
German defense contractor Rheinmetall has successfully conducted an autonomous logistics training program for British Army personnel, preparing them for the upcoming "Project Convergence Capstone 6" (PCC6) international exercise. The program focused on enabling soldiers to operate autonomous systems in complex logistical scenarios.
The two-week training, held at the Combat Service Support Trials and Development Unit in Aldershot, enabled members of the "Advanced Land Autonomy Centre of Excellence" (ALACoE) to gain hands-on experience. The culminating event was the UK's first autonomous "UK HX" convoy, operated by British soldiers using Rheinmetall's PATH Autonomous Kit. This initiative is part of the British Army's "Project MAIA" to evaluate autonomous systems for future logistics.
The PATH-Kit, a platform-agnostic autonomous driving system, was installed on Rheinmetall's HX2 development vehicle, "White Pony." This system utilizes advanced sensors and AI-powered navigation, allowing vehicles to drive autonomously or in convoy. The training scenarios simulated real-world challenges, including route blockages and vehicle breakdowns, preparing soldiers for the demands of PCC6 in California.

Project PCC6 will bring together international partners to evaluate new technologies in realistic operational environments. Rheinmetall aims to support evolving defense needs by providing innovative solutions for modern armed forces.
