RicheyWeb Releases User Profile Change History Extension
RicheyWeb has developed and released a free Joomla extension that logs all changes made to user profiles, providing detailed audit trails.

RicheyWeb has launched a new extension for Joomla websites that meticulously logs all modifications to user profiles. The tool, titled "User - Profile History," allows website administrators and users to identify who made a change, when it was enacted, and the precise nature of the alterations.
The extension aims to address a common challenge on websites managed by multiple individuals, offering complete visibility into user profile field modifications. This includes changes initiated by third-party add-ons or custom fields within the Joomla system. The tool also records details regarding user account deletions and the administrator responsible.
Developer Michael Richey notes that the original iteration of this functionality has been incorporated into Joomla's core, making this standalone release primarily a demonstration of his work. "This extension is intended to put an end to finger-pointing," Richey stated, referencing scenarios where accountability for specific changes or user deactivations is unclear.
"User - Profile History" is provided free of charge, with RicheyWeb encouraging community adoption and innovation. The company also offers custom development services for those requiring more tailored solutions.
The extension is designed to be extensible, allowing for custom plugins to format how specific profile data, such as passwords or group affiliations, is displayed in the history log. The main plugin manages and tracks changes, while supporting profile plugins handle data formatting and security, like preventing actual password data from being stored.
