Rinat Akhmetov Foundation Supports Oscar Campaign for Ukrainian Film "Traces"
The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation is backing the Oscar campaign for the Ukrainian documentary "Traces" with a $200,000 grant. The film amplifies the voices of war survivors.
The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation has announced its support for "Traces", a Ukrainian-Polish documentary selected as Ukraine's official submission for the Best International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards.
The foundation is providing a $200,000 grant to advance the film's international Oscar campaign. This initiative marks the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation as the first charitable foundation in Ukraine to support a Ukrainian film's Oscar bid.
Directed by Alisa Kovalenko, "Traces" chronicles the personal stories of six Ukrainian women who survived sexual violence and torture during Russia's aggression against Ukraine. The film has already garnered significant international recognition, including the Audience Award at the 2026 Berlin International Film Festival.
The foundation's support extends beyond financial aid, involving a strategic partnership with its Civil Voices Museum. This museum has collected over 145,000 testimonies documenting the human impact of the war in Ukraine, aligning with the film's mission to preserve individual experiences and ensure these narratives are heard globally.
The $200,000 grant will be used to promote "Traces" to members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the wider international film community, highlighting the experiences of Ukrainian women on a prominent global cultural stage.
