Riot Games to end development on League of Legends fighting game 2XKO

Riot Games will cease active development on 2XKO, its free-to-play fighting game set in the League of Legends universe, by the end of 2026.

The company stated that the decision was made because the game has not "seen enough players stick with the game to get to a path toward sustainability." Despite the end of active development, Riot confirmed that game servers will remain operational beyond 2026.

In conjunction with the development halt, Riot is unlocking all playable characters for free to all players. The company will also refund any money spent by players on the game.

2XKO launched in early access beta on PC in October 2025 and was later released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in January 2026. Shortly after its broader release, Riot announced staff reductions within the team working on the game.
