Rittal expands cooling unit range with new energy-efficient Blue e+ S models

Rittal has expanded its range of energy-efficient enclosure cooling units with the introduction of the new Blue e+ S generation. These new units are designed for lower output classes, offering cooling capacities of 300, 500, and 1000 watts.

The company states that the new series aims to reduce the carbon footprint of machines and plants, as well as lowering operating costs. The Blue e+ technology family is credited by Rittal with providing an average energy saving of 75 percent compared to conventional cooling units. The design DNA of the original Blue e+ is now incorporated into the new Blue e+ S generation.

The technology behind the Blue e+ S units combines a heat pipe for passive cooling with inverter-controlled components. When active cooling is required, the inverter-controlled compressor and fans automatically adjust their speeds according to demand, ensuring a constant enclosure temperature with high energy efficiency. Additionally, the new series utilizes a refrigerant with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) that is 56 percent lower than that of comparable cooling units.

The Blue e+ S units feature enhanced smart functions, including an IoT interface for intelligent monitoring in digitalized environments and direct connection to Rittal's Smart Service Portal. This is intended to optimize service processes and increase efficiency through predictive maintenance. A revised design includes an integrated LED light strip for immediate visual alerts and a display on the front. The units also feature an NFC interface for communication with mobile devices equipped with the Rittal Scan & Service app.
