Rittal Introduces Adapter for Blue e Cooling Unit IoT Integration

Rittal North America has introduced a new adapter designed to retrofit existing Blue e cooling units with communication capabilities for integration into condition monitoring and IoT systems. This development aims to provide a cost-effective solution for companies looking to upgrade their equipment for smart manufacturing.

The adapter allows for condition monitoring of up to 10 cooling units in a master/slave configuration. This enables not only data recording but also efficiency analyses of the cooling solution. The system can also be configured to issue automatic notifications for faults and breaches, thereby enhancing system availability and preventing costly downtime.

The adapter is compatible with Rittal's Blue e units featuring the Comfort Controller, including NEMA 12, 3R/4, and 4X rated wall and roof-mounted models. Units with NEMA 3R/4 or 4X classifications, often used in outdoor applications like solar and wind power plants, are particularly suited for IoT integration due to the critical need for remote monitoring in isolated areas.

By combining the IoT Interface with this new IoT Adapter, Blue e cooling units can be integrated into higher-level systems without direct communication capabilities. The setup and commissioning process is streamlined through the web server integrated into the IoT interface, requiring no programming. Mike Freund, managing director for Rittal USA, stated the adapter offers an "easy way" to make cooling units IoT-ready for industrial applications.
