Rittal Presents Solutions for Moisture Control in Electrical Enclosures

February 3, 2026 – Protecting electrical components within control cabinets is crucial for reliable industrial production. Condensation, in particular, can lead to corrosion and short circuits, causing equipment failures.

Moisture forms inside an enclosure when warm interior air meets cooler cabinet surfaces. Condensation occurs when the air temperature drops below its dew point, causing water vapor to turn into liquid. This issue is exacerbated by external factors, such as high ambient humidity or during maintenance when enclosure doors are opened.

Rittal offers two primary approaches to prevent condensation. The first is active cabinet cooling, utilizing units like the Rittal Blue e+ series to dissipate heat and evaporate condensate. This process removes moisture before it can accumulate within the enclosure.

Alternatively, Rittal provides enclosure heaters. These maintain a consistently elevated internal temperature, preventing the air from reaching its dew point. For enhanced energy efficiency, a hygrostat can be employed. This device activates the heater only when necessary, triggering it when humidity levels exceed a preset threshold. These strategies aim to ensure operational reliability and prevent costly production downtime.
