Rivian R2 model becomes company's top-selling vehicle in Q3 2026

Rivian released its financial results for the third quarter of 2026, highlighting a significant production ramp-up for its R2 electric vehicle. The model has officially overtaken the company's legacy lineup to become its best-selling vehicle.

The company posted $2.155 billion in revenue, up from $1.558 billion in the third quarter of 2025. Automotive sales contributed $1.55 billion to this total, reflecting a 36 percent year-over-year increase. Additionally, revenue from software and subscription services grew by 45 percent, reaching $605 million.

These results arrive amidst a broader slowdown in the global electric vehicle market. Rivian's pivot toward the R2, combined with its expansion into high-margin software services, remains the primary strategy for stabilizing its financial position in an increasingly competitive sector.
