Rivian Spinoff Mind Robotics Hires Former Ford EV Chief Doug Field

Mind Robotics, an artificial intelligence and robotics venture spun out of Rivian, has appointed Doug Field, formerly the chief EV technology officer at Ford, as its new president. Field's extensive background includes leadership roles at Tesla and a stint working on Apple's secretive car project.

The company, which officially launched last year, is focused on building a full-stack solution for industrial manufacturing. Field will oversee product, engineering, and operations, while Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe remains involved with the venture.

Mind Robotics has already secured over $1 billion in funding from investors including Accel, Andreessen Horowitz, Eclipse, Kleiner Perkins, and the venture arms of Volkswagen and Salesforce. This significant financial backing indicates a strong market confidence in the company's potential.

Field's appointment marks a strategic move for Mind Robotics as it aims to scale its operations and advance its technological development in the competitive industrial AI and robotics sector. His experience is expected to be instrumental in guiding the company's growth.
