Rivian's Mind Robotics Hires Former Ford EV Chief Doug Field
Doug Field, with experience from Ford, Tesla, and Apple, has been appointed president of Rivian's new startup, Mind Robotics. The hire signals the company's scaling ambitions.
Doug Field, an executive with extensive experience in electric vehicles and robotics, has been appointed president of Mind Robotics, a new venture created by Rivian.
Field's career includes significant roles at Ford overseeing electric vehicle development, work on Apple's secretive car project, and leading the development of the Tesla Model 3. He also has early experience from Segway.
His appointment at Mind Robotics, an industrial AI and robotics company founded by Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe, suggests the startup is preparing to scale its operations just one year after its inception.
Mind Robotics was established last year to focus on industrial AI and robotics solutions. While Scaringe will remain involved in the company's strategic direction, Field will oversee the day-to-day operations, product development, and engineering.
