Roam Charging offers businesses up to £1,000 to replace EV chargers
Roam Charging has launched an initiative paying businesses up to £1,000 for each qualifying charger replaced, aiming to upgrade aging electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

Roam Charging has introduced a new program to incentivize businesses to replace outdated electric vehicle (EV) chargers. The company is offering up to £1,000 for each existing charger that qualifies for replacement, facilitating the transition to modern, fully managed EV charging solutions.
The initiative targets organizations with chargers that are faulty, aging, or non-compliant with current standards. Roam Charging will remove the old equipment and install its own OCPP-compliant chargers at no direct cost to the business, provided they enter into a long-term agreement. Businesses can receive £500 per single-socket charger and £1,000 per dual-socket charger replaced.
Under the program, all removed charging hardware will be responsibly recycled as WEEE waste. This move addresses the growing challenge in the UK of maintaining aging EV infrastructure, which can become costly and difficult to manage.
James Randall, CEO of Roam Charging, stated that the goal is to remove the financial barrier for upgrades and ensure a more reliable charging experience. The new chargers are OCPP compliant, allowing for future flexibility and integration. The company also manages the ongoing maintenance and support of the new infrastructure, offering businesses potential ongoing revenue streams.
