Robinhood to Offer 24/7 Stock Trading, AI Agents

Robinhood is expanding its trading services beyond traditional U.S. stock market hours, aiming to attract a more active trader base. The brokerage announced Tuesday at its HOOD Summit in Houston, Texas, that it will offer extended trading hours, including weekends, and introduce AI-powered automated trading tools.
These additions signal Robinhood's evolution from its origins as a commission-free stock trading platform to a more comprehensive offering for active traders. The move intensifies competition among retail brokerages, shifting the focus from low costs to enhanced access, speed, and automation.
Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev stated the company is working to make Robinhood the premier destination for active traders by providing tools previously accessible only to institutional investors. Starting next year, customers will be able to trade select U.S. equities around the clock, seven days a week.
The company also unveiled AI agent technology, allowing users to build their own automated trading bots. Additionally, Robinhood plans to enable trading of crypto perpetual futures contracts within its app, offering leveraged exposure to cryptocurrencies without requiring ownership of the underlying assets.
