Roblox adds AI-powered game creation to mobile app
Roblox is updating its mobile client with a "Build" feature that allows users to create games using AI tools directly on their phones, eliminating the need for coding.
Roblox announced an upcoming update to its mobile application that will introduce a "Build" feature. This new functionality integrates AI-powered tools, enabling users to design and generate their own games directly from their smartphones without requiring any programming skills.
The "Build" feature will utilize a combination of AI models, including open-source options and proprietary Roblox technology. Users can create game mechanics, environments, characters, visual styles, and sound effects by providing simple text prompts. For instance, inputting "Let's create a cozy adventure game set in a lush forest" could generate an initial game version ready for modification and sharing.
An Alpha test for the feature is scheduled to begin on July 28. It will initially be available to verified users aged 9 and above residing in New Zealand. Users over 16 in the test group will be able to publish their creations globally. Roblox plans to release both a free basic version and a paid premium version of the "Build" tool in the future.
