Robotics Firm Origin Raises $20 Million for Autonomous Construction Robots

Robotics startup Origin has announced it has raised $20 million in a funding round co-led by Accel and Zacua Ventures. The round also saw participation from Unilazer Ventures, Schema Ventures, and Z21.

The fresh capital will primarily be used to deploy its flagship OG-1 robot and build a fleet of construction robots. A portion of the funds will also support large-scale pilots with customers in the US and Europe and explore new use cases for the bots.

Founded in 2025 by Yogesh Ghaturle, Ashish Daga, and Tushar Makkar, Origin develops autonomous robotics for construction work. The company aims to address widespread labor shortages in the sector and claims its robots can work three times faster than a human.

Its flagship robot, OG-1, can automatically complete wall-finishing tasks such as applying compound, sanding, and priming. Origin has deployed its robots on construction sites in New York and is expanding their use to commercial spaces, apartments, data centers, hotels, and warehouses.

Origin plans to deploy 150 robots by the end of 2027 and is exploring additional pilots in countries like Germany, Sweden, France, and Saudi Arabia. The global construction robotics market is projected to reach $12 billion by 2036.
