Jennifer Kolbe, head of Rockstar Games' publishing division, has denied reports suggesting that the development budget for Grand Theft Auto 6 exceeded $1.5 billion. While no official figure has been released, some industry estimates have placed the game's costs between $1 billion and $1.5 billion.
Rockstar's parent company T2 CEO Strauss Zelnick has previously described the game as "very expensive" but declined to provide specific financial details. Despite the lack of confirmation, GTA 6 is widely considered within the industry to be the most expensive video game ever developed.
The Bloomberg report also highlighted a significant expansion in Rockstar Games' workforce. The company currently operates 12 studios and employs 4,711 individuals. This represents a substantial increase from 2018, when the company had 2,441 employees around the time of Red Dead Redemption 2's release.
