Rohde & Schwarz acquires NEOSAT and PHYTRONIC to boost satellite communications
Rohde & Schwarz has acquired NEOSAT and PHYTRONIC, two German deep-tech companies, to enhance its capabilities in sovereign satellite communications. The acquisition aims to strengthen the company's expertise in both hardware and waveform development for space applications.
Munich – Technology group Rohde & Schwarz is strengthening its position in the satellite communications market with the acquisition of NEOSAT and PHYTRONIC. The deal aims to combine specialized deep-tech expertise with industrial development capabilities, fostering European value creation in the sector.
NEOSAT and PHYTRONIC focus on technologies for multi-antenna satellite systems, satellite-based IoT connectivity, and advanced transmission methods for space. NEOSAT, founded in 2018, develops concepts for multi-antenna satellite systems and IoT connectivity, while PHYTRONIC, established in 2023, specializes in waveforms for space and avionics communications.
By integrating these companies, Rohde & Schwarz will consolidate expertise in hardware design for satellite payloads and ground infrastructure alongside waveform development for aerospace systems. This vertical integration is intended to enhance the company's competitiveness in the growing SATCOM market, particularly for secure and resilient communications.
