Rohde & Schwarz adds 53 GHz system amplifier to product line
Rohde & Schwarz has launched the R&S®SAM200 system amplifier, extending its product portfolio to 53 GHz. The new amplifier addresses testing needs for next-generation satellite and telecommunications standards.

Munich, Germany – Rohde & Schwarz has expanded its amplifier portfolio with the introduction of the R&S®SAM200 system amplifier. This new device extends the frequency range of the successful SAM100 line from 20 GHz to 53 GHz, offering up to 4 watts of saturation power. The launch caters to the growing demand for testing solutions in the Ka, Q, and V bands, which are critical for next-generation satellite solutions and modern telecommunications standards.
The SAM200 acts as a high-performance gain block. The SAM200 Advanced model includes enhanced features designed to streamline complex laboratory workflows. It incorporates an integrated power detector, USB and LAN interfaces, and a web-based graphical user interface. A switchable three-path RF functionality allows users to select between modes such as low noise/high gain, normal, and low gain to optimize EVM signal quality when used with signal generators or network analyzers.
The amplifier family is primarily intended for testing RF components where signal generators or network analyzers may have limited output power. The wide frequency coverage allows a single amplifier to replace multiple narrowband units, reducing equipment footprint and overall system costs. The units are available in both desktop and 4 HU rack-mounted configurations.
As a solid-state power amplifier, the SAM200 ensures high availability through robust output mismatch protection and a gradual power foldback mechanism. This design protects equipment from damage and minimizes downtime in critical testing environments. Rohde & Schwarz now offers a seamless ecosystem of generators, analyzers, and amplifiers, positioning the company as a comprehensive solutions provider for the evolving needs of the satellite, aerospace, and 5G communication industries.
