Rohde & Schwarz is expanding its air traffic control (ATC) communications modernization program for Egypt's National Air Navigation Services (NANSC). The expanded deployment replaces legacy radio equipment and upgrades voice communications to a full IP, cyber-secure architecture.

Munich, June 25, 2026 – Rohde & Schwarz is expanding its air traffic control (ATC) communications modernization program for Egypt's National Air Navigation Services (NANSC). This expansion involves replacing aging radio ground stations and upgrading the central voice communications system to a fully IP-based, cyber-secure architecture. The goal is to enhance communication security, availability, and long-term operability.
The multi-phase program, initially launched in March 2023 and extended in April 2025, covers radio ground stations and a central voice communication system across multiple sites. Rohde & Schwarz is leading the complete implementation of the modernization, utilizing its CERTIUM Radio R&S®Series5200 and CERTIUM VCS solutions. The scope includes system design, installation, testing, training, and ongoing technical support.
The updated program provides NANSC with a standards-based communications platform, addressing challenges posed by outdated infrastructure. This ensures operational continuity, reduces lifecycle costs through software updates instead of hardware replacements, and significantly strengthens cybersecurity, availability, and interoperability. Rohde & Schwarz's turnkey implementation and long-term support facilitate a smooth transition to a state-of-the-art operational baseline.
