Rohde & Schwarz Guides 5G NR Network Interference Troubleshooting

Technology company Rohde & Schwarz has published information detailing how to understand and troubleshoot interference issues within 5G NR (New Radio) networks. The material addresses the complexities of interference, a factor that can significantly degrade network performance.

The guidance categorizes interference into two main types: internal and external. Internal interference originates from within the network itself, stemming from causes such as inadequate network synchronization or overlapping cell coverage. Rohde & Schwarz suggests solutions including precise measurements, such as Signal-to-Noise and Interference Ratio (SINR), and network optimization techniques like antenna pattern adjustments.

External interference, conversely, arises from sources outside the network. These can be diverse, ranging from faulty satellite equipment to engines and power lines. Interference impacting the uplink capacity in 5G NR TDD networks is highlighted as particularly challenging, as it can disrupt communications with weak signals.

Rohde & Schwarz provides tools, including its R&S®TSMx network scanner family, to detect and analyze interference sources. The objective is to assist network operators in maintaining optimal network quality and ensuring reliable data transmission despite interference.
