Munich, June 15, 2026 – German technology company Rohde & Schwarz has introduced THORIS, a counter-uncrewed aerial system (C-UAS) designed to detect and neutralize drone threats. The system was unveiled at the Eurosatory 2026 defense exhibition in Paris.

THORIS features a modular architecture that integrates radio frequency (RF), radar, and electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensors. This fusion of sensor data aims to provide real-time detection, tracking, and identification capabilities against a diverse range of drone threats.

The system's functionality includes rapid identification of radio-controlled drones via RF sensors, radar for range and velocity information even in low-emission scenarios, and high-definition visual confirmation from EO/IR cameras. All data streams are processed within a unified command and control environment, facilitating situational awareness and coordinated defensive actions."This layered, effector-agnostic architecture is essential for confronting today’s heterogeneous drone threat landscape," said Markus Eiber, Vice President Counter Drone Systems at Rohde & Schwarz. "By developing the entire suite in Germany, we guarantee sovereign supply-chain independence and keep lifecycle costs low."

THORIS is designed to be platform-agnostic, allowing for flexible integration on vehicles or in fixed installations. Its modularity enables scaling to meet specific mission requirements. The system also supports a common interface for various mitigation technologies, including RF jamming or electronic attack, while ensuring human-in-the-loop decision-making and compliance with engagement rules.
