Rohde & Schwarz to Supply Communications System to Memmingen Airport
Rohde & Schwarz will deliver its advanced CERTIUM VCS voice communications system and radio control to Memmingen Airport in Germany, replacing analog equipment and enhancing air traffic coordination.

German technology group Rohde & Schwarz will supply its advanced CERTIUM VCS (Voice Communications System) and integrated control of its radios to Memmingen Airport. The system is set to replace analog equipment, aiming to improve the reliability of daily airport operations.
The new IP-based architecture promises increased availability and seamless integration with the airport's network. This facilitates more efficient coordination and provides a scalable foundation for future requirements.
The CERTIUM VCS will directly control Rohde & Schwarz radios for air-ground communications. The solution includes modern controller working positions for air traffic control, as well as compact positions for fire services and operations. A common user interface and standardized procedures are designed to improve coordination among different teams.
Memmingen Airport, the third-largest in Bavaria, plays an increasing role in European point-to-point networks. The ongoing modernization aims to support the airport's continued growth and solidify its position as a future-ready regional infrastructure asset. Rohde & Schwarz also operates a significant manufacturing facility in Memmingen.
