Rohit Sharma Invests in LightFury Games, eCricket to Launch September

Indian gaming studio LightFury Games has announced that former Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma has joined the company as an investor. Sharma will also be featured as an officially licensed player in the studio's upcoming mobile cricket game, eCricket.

The financial terms of Sharma's investment were not disclosed. He becomes the eighth prominent cricketer to invest in the Bengaluru-based studio, joining names like MS Dhoni, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya.

The announcement coincides with LightFury's preparations for the phased closed beta rollout of eCricket, scheduled to begin in September 2026. The game has garnered significant interest, with over 300,000 users signing up and a recent teaser accumulating over one million views.

eCricket will feature an "Ultimate Squad" mode allowing players to assemble teams from a roster of over 700 licensed cricketers worldwide. Former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu is confirmed as one of the game's commentators. LightFury aims to deliver an authentic, competitive cricket experience developed in India for a global audience.
