Atari has announced a revival of its long-dormant RollerCoaster Tycoon simulation series with a new title, "RollerCoaster Tycoon Wonderworks." The game, developed by Springloaded, was revealed at Gamescom 2026 and is slated for a Steam Early Access release this winter.

The previous installment, "RollerCoaster Tycoon World," released in 2016, received a mixed reception from critics. Atari is now aiming to re-energize the classic IP with a game that promises a blend of accessible gameplay and deep customization options.

"Wonderworks" will feature a new, cartoon-like visual style for the series. Players will be tasked with building and managing their own theme parks, overseeing everything from financial management to the design and operation of rides. The game reportedly includes a physics engine that can lead to exaggerated malfunctions.

Priced at $24.99, "RollerCoaster Tycoon Wonderworks" will initially launch on Steam's Early Access platform. Atari has indicated plans for a full release on PC and consoles at a later date.
