Rona Ambrose Appointed Chair of Plan International Canada's Board of Directors

Plan International Canada announced on November 24, 2022, that the Honourable Rona Ambrose has been appointed as the new chair of its board of directors. Ambrose, a board member since 2017, will succeed Patsy Anderson.

Ambrose is a recognized advocate for girls' rights and was instrumental in the creation of the UN's International Day of the Girl in 2011. "I am honored and excited to be the new chair of the board," Ambrose stated. "Plan International Canada is delivering real and lasting improvements in the lives of children and girls at a time of intense global change and challenges."

The organization also welcomed two new members to its board: Martine Irman, an executive with experience in the investment industry, and Mary-Anne Carignan, who brings extensive international business and health IT experience. "Both of these women, with their perspectives and skills, will help bring about positive changes in the lives of children, especially girls, worldwide," said Lindsay Glassco, President and CEO.

Patsy Anderson served as chair since 2016, navigating the organization through the COVID-19 pandemic and fostering greater diversity on the board. David Adams, a board member since 2016, also departed.
