Rot-Weiss Essen Appoints Felix Bastians as New Head Coach

Rot-Weiss Essen announced on Friday the appointment of Felix Bastians as the club's new head coach. Bastians, 33, assumes responsibility for the team with immediate effect.

He replaces Christian Neidhart, who was dismissed earlier in the week. Bastians has signed a contract that runs until the end of the 2023 season. During his playing career, Bastians represented several clubs, including VfL Bochum and Millwall.

After retiring from playing, Bastians transitioned into coaching, most recently serving as the head coach for the U19 team at FC Ingolstadt. The club expects him to bring renewed energy and tactical acumen to the squad.

Rot-Weiss Essen currently competes in the Regionalliga West. The club's objective is to gain promotion back to the 3. Liga, and management believes Bastians is the right figure to guide the team toward this goal in the upcoming seasons.
