Rot-Weiss Essen signs striker Jannik Mause ahead of Aachen match

Rot-Weiss Essen has bolstered its attacking lineup with the signing of striker Jannik Mause, while also allowing striker Dion Berishacher to seek a new club. The club made these announcements ahead of their fourth-round league match against TSV Alemannia Aachen.

Markus Stegmann, the club's Director of Professional Football, confirmed Mause's transfer during a press conference on Thursday. Stegmann described the signing as the "final puzzle piece" for the squad, highlighting Mause's experience as a third-division striker. He noted Mause's strengths, including his ability to play with his back to goal, his pace, and his proven track record as a top scorer in the third tier, as well as his previous stint with Alemannia Aachen.

Head coach Uwe Koschinat expressed enthusiasm for the new signing, characterizing Mause as a "very exciting" player. Koschinat emphasized Mause's physical presence, his defined role as a center forward, and his capacity for an active pressing game. The coach believes Mause will enhance the team's counter-attacking capabilities and bring increased intensity.

Regarding Berishacher's departure, Stegmann stated that the player's desire for more playing time elsewhere was accommodated. The agreement was reached on "moderate terms," with the player's wish for increased opportunities being the primary factor. The club is currently working to ensure Mause is eligible to play in Sunday's game.

Rot-Weiss Essen is scheduled to host TSV Alemannia Aachen on Sunday at their home stadium, Hafenstraße. The match is part of the fourth round of the league season and is set to kick off in the evening.
