Royal Caribbean to Feature "The SpongeBob Musical" on Hero of the Seas
Royal Caribbean announced "The SpongeBob Musical" will debut at sea on its newest Icon Class ship, Hero of the Seas. The production begins in August 2027 with sailings from Miami.
Royal Caribbean will introduce "The SpongeBob Musical," inspired by the Tony Award-winning Broadway show, aboard its upcoming Icon Class vessel, Hero of the Seas. The production is set to premiere in August 2027, coinciding with the ship's inaugural season departing from Miami.
The musical, which brings the world of Bikini Bottom to life, will be performed in the ship's Royal Theater. This addition is part of the entertainment lineup for Hero of the Seas, designed to offer experiences for all ages.
"At Royal Caribbean, we're focused on creating incredible experiences that bring families of all ages together in meaningful, memorable ways," said Christi Coachman, vice president, entertainment, Royal Caribbean. "Our entertainment lineup on Hero of the Seas is designed with something for everyone. 'The SpongeBob Musical' delivers on that by bringing generations together through a story families know and love, while showcasing the creativity and cutting-edge technology that can only be experienced on a Royal Caribbean vacation."
Beyond the musical, Hero of the Seas will feature attractions such as the Crown's Edge skywalk and zipline, the Category 6 waterpark, and nine pools. The ship will offer seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries, including visits to Royal Caribbean's Perfect Day CocoCay in the Bahamas.
