Royal Mint Releases Star Trek-Themed 50p Coins
The Royal Mint has unveiled two collectable 50 pence coins to mark the 60th anniversary of Star Trek. This is the first time Star Trek imagery has been featured on coinage.

The Royal Mint, the official UK mint, has released two new 50 pence coins to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Star Trek franchise. The coins represent the first time the popular science fiction series has been commemorated on UK currency.
The first coin features the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 spaceship alongside the Starfleet insignia. The second coin depicts Captain James T. Kirk accompanied by his iconic "live long and prosper" Vulcan salute. Both coins are crafted from nickel-plated steel.
This launch coincides with the 60th anniversary of the original Star Trek television series' debut. The show, first aired in 1966, has cultivated a substantial global fanbase and left a significant mark on popular culture.
The collectable coins are available for purchase through The Royal Mint's official website, catering to both numismatists and fans of the Star Trek universe.
