Travel organizer RSD Reise Service Deutschland GmbH has committed to a donation of 50,000 euros to support archaeological excavations in Myra, located in southwestern Turkey.
The funds are earmarked for the restoration of an ancient theatre and its stage structures. The formal handover ceremony took place on June 7, 2012, at the Myra site, with reporter Dieter Kronzucker in attendance.
Professor Nevzat Çevik, head of the excavations, expressed gratitude to RSD owner Christian Funk and CEO Horst Zsifkovits for the significant contribution. Kronzucker, who began his career as a tour guide, addressed the RSD educational tour leaders during the event.
RSD, which offers travel packages to various global destinations, has previously supported cultural sites. The donation to the Myra excavations is part of the company's broader corporate social responsibility initiatives.
The ancient theatre at Myra is a key archaeological site, and the restoration efforts aim to preserve its historical significance for future generations.
