Ørsted CEO Rasmus Errboe to Chair WindEurope for 18 Months

Rasmus Errboe, Group President and CEO of Ørsted, has commenced an 18-month term as Chair of WindEurope, the industry association for the European wind energy sector. In his new role, Errboe will focus on key industry priorities including accelerating the deployment of wind power projects, strengthening supply chains, expanding electricity grids, and improving the investment climate.

Errboe will collaborate with WindEurope CEO Tinne Van der Straeten and Vice-Chair Salvatore Bernabei, CEO of Enel Green Power, to advance the association's agenda. This leadership transition occurs as the European wind sector aims to translate long-term renewable energy targets into new operational capacity while navigating challenges related to grid connections, permitting processes, supply chains, and investment frameworks.

The European wind industry currently supports approximately 480,000 jobs and generates around 20% of the continent's electricity consumption. WindEurope forecasts a record 24 GW of new wind capacity to be installed in Europe in 2026, equivalent to the annual electricity use of about 20 million European households. However, the association stresses that sustaining this deployment rate requires more projects to move from planning stages into construction.

During his chairmanship, Errboe aims to advocate for faster permitting, expanded grids, more robust supply chains, and predictable investment frameworks. These initiatives are intended to bolster Europe's energy security, industrial competitiveness, and technological innovation through increased wind energy utilization.
