RTX's Raytheon Awarded $20.7 Billion Contract for AMRAAM Missile Production

RTX's Raytheon division has been awarded a five-year contract, with two option years, valued at up to $20.7 billion to accelerate the production of its Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM). This agreement is part of the Department of War's initiative to bolster ammunition manufacturing capabilities.

The contract follows a prior agreement announced earlier this year, which supports the annual production of at least 1,900 AMRAAM missiles. Raytheon has made substantial investments to expand its production capacity to meet the surging demand from the U.S. Air Force, Navy, and international partners.

"AMRAAM remains the world's most trusted, combat-proven air dominance weapon for the United States and our allies," said Phil Jasper, President of Raytheon. "We continue to invest in our workforce, technology, supply chain, and facilities to rapidly scale production capacity."

RTX has significantly ramped up production of AMRAAM and other critical munitions in recent years, nearly doubling output in 2025 compared to 2024. The company collaborates with hundreds of suppliers nationwide and is exploring international co-production opportunities. The fifth-generation AMRAAM missile is currently operational on 14 platforms across 44 countries.
