Automaker Ruf unveiled a new flat-eight engine at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England. The engine was publicly run for the first time at the event.
German authorities have long considered Ruf a distinct manufacturer. The company has evolved from tuning Porsches to building its own vehicles. In 1983, the BTR model was the first to carry a Ruf Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) instead of the one originally stamped by Porsche.
Ruf's more recent vehicles, such as the SCR and Rodeo, have utilized six-cylinder boxer engines. The new flat-eight engine is expected to be incorporated into the company's next generation of cars.
Further details regarding the new engine have not yet been disclosed. The company has previously produced cars featuring a frame chassis developed with Multimatic and its own all-carbon monocoque chassis.
