Ruukki and SSAB Donate Roofing Materials for Ukrainian Reconstruction
Ruukki Construction and SSAB have donated roofing materials for reconstruction efforts in Ukraine. In January 2024, sixteen apartment buildings received new steel roofs.

Building companies Ruukki Construction and SSAB have supplied roofing materials for reconstruction efforts in Ukraine, coordinated by the Swedish charity organization OperationAid. In January 2024, sixteen apartment buildings in the Mykolaiv region were fitted with new steel roofs after sustaining damage from Russian aggression.
The donation comprised approximately 2,500 square meters of roofing materials, manufactured from SSAB's steel at the Ruukki plant near Kyiv. The materials were delivered to Ukraine in December 2023.
"Sixteen multi-story apartment buildings now have new steel roofs, and people have been able to return to their homes. It is also great that our operations in Ukraine continue despite the war, and we are able to manufacture and deliver roofing products to our customers," said Yuriy Obukh, Business Director for Ruukki's Ukraine unit.
This marks the second consecutive year that SSAB and Ruukki Construction have donated roofing products to Ukraine. The donated roof profiles, flashings, and fasteners have been used in both years for the reconstruction of roofs on buildings damaged by the conflict.
