R+V: New Retirement Savings Plan Encourages Adjusting Savings to Career Growth
German insurer R+V Versicherung AG advises individuals to align their retirement savings with career advancements, particularly with the introduction of a new state-subsidized plan in 2027.

German insurer R+V Versicherung AG is advising individuals to adjust their retirement savings to coincide with career progression, especially with the upcoming introduction of a new state-subsidized retirement savings plan starting in 2027.
The company suggests that career milestones, such as salary increases or new responsibilities, present an opportune moment to boost retirement contributions. R+V highlights that while increased income may lead to higher spending, it is easier to increase savings before new consumption habits are fully established.
The new retirement savings plan, effective from early 2027, offers significant state subsidies in addition to personal contributions. The government provides allowances based on the individual's savings amount. The minimum annual savings are €120, with a maximum of €1,800, for which the state contributes up to €540. Additional benefits and tax advantages are available for families with children and young professionals.
The savings plan includes various options, such as contracts guaranteeing 80 percent of invested funds at retirement age, or a more flexible savings plan allowing participation in capital market returns through investments in funds or ETFs. R+V notes that the latter option carries risks, including value fluctuations and potential losses.
R+V encourages clients to start saving as early as possible to benefit from compound interest and potential capital market gains, emphasizing that the goal is not to forgo current enjoyments but to secure one's future.
