R+V trains 275 employees in defibrillator use
R+V Versicherung has trained 275 employees in Wiesbaden in first aid and the use of defibrillators as part of a city-wide initiative.

Wiesbaden-based insurance company R+V Versicherung AG trained 275 employees in first aid and the operation of life-saving equipment, including defibrillators, in June 2013. The training was conducted as part of the broader "Wiesbaden lernt Erste Hilfe" (Wiesbaden Learns First Aid) campaign, aimed at enhancing the city's residents' preparedness for emergencies.
The training sessions, hosted by R+V's in-house occupational health service, saw 275 employees acquire skills in basic resuscitation and the use of the ten defibrillators installed at the company's Wiesbaden sites. The initiative attracted significant interest, with many employees motivated by a desire to act effectively in critical situations rather than being passive bystanders.
According to R+V's HR director Hans-Christian Marschler, increasing the number of trained first responders enhances the efficiency of emergency medical aid. The company's participation in the campaign underscores the critical importance of timely intervention during cardiac arrest. He noted that prompt, correct resuscitation combined with defibrillator use within three to five minutes of a cardiac arrest can improve survival rates by 50 to 75 percent.
Following the positive reception in Wiesbaden, R+V is extending its commitment. Thirty-one employees have chosen to pursue further first aid certifications, and the company plans to offer similar training programs at its locations in Stuttgart, Hamburg, and Cologne.
