R+V Versicherung AG has reported significant financial results for 2025, exceeding the previous year's performance. The company demonstrated strong growth amid a challenging market environment.
German insurer R+V Versicherung AG announced it achieved record results for the 2025 fiscal year. Despite ongoing geopolitical tensions and economic volatility, the company managed to increase both its earnings and premium income.
The group's profit before tax (IFRS) reached €2.2 billion, an increase of over 70 percent compared to the previous year's €1.3 billion. This growth was largely attributed to a substantial rise in the insurance-technical result to €2.6 billion, up from €1.4 billion in 2024. R+V cited unusually low claims and successful profitability improvements in specific business areas as key drivers. Notably, natural catastrophe claims were €150 million, a significant decrease from €442 million in the prior year.
Overall, R+V's total premium income grew by 8.7 percent to €22.8 billion. The domestic primary insurance business saw a 9.3 percent increase, reaching €17.5 billion. Life and pension insurance showed particularly strong performance, growing by 12.1 percent to €8.5 billion. CEO Norbert Rollinger stated that the implementation of the 'NextLevel' strategy has yielded positive results, strengthening the company's growth, profitability, and risk resilience.
The company also significantly bolstered its capital structure, with the solvency ratio rising from 168 percent to 204 percent, positioning R+V among Germany's financially strongest insurers. While investment income, excluding unit-linked life insurance, decreased to €2.2 billion from €2.7 billion in 2024, the company considers the overall development robust. The first quarter of 2026 also indicated a strong start across all segments.
