RyMed Technologies announced findings from an independent laboratory study demonstrating that its antibacterial-impregnated needleless connectors, InVision-Plus CS®, significantly outperform standard untreated silicone connectors against multidrug-resistant pathogens. The device showed a 36.78-fold higher kill efficiency against Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococcus faecium (VRE) at the moment of access.

The study, conducted by Pacific BioLabs, also found the connectors to be more effective against Staphylococcus epidermidis and Candida auris. These findings address the persistent challenge of catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSIs) and hospital-onset bacteremia (HOB), which pose serious patient safety risks.

Catheter-related infections are a significant concern in healthcare settings, often linked to inadequate disinfection protocols and pathogen harboring in standard medical devices. The InVision-Plus CS® integrates antimicrobial chemistry directly into the connector to provide an additional layer of protection.

RyMed Technologies stated that its product acts as a passive gatekeeper, combining material properties with active chemistry to mitigate infection risks. The company suggests integrating such advanced connectors into vascular access bundles can proactively reduce healthcare-associated infections.
