S-Payment and Payone Offer Fee-Free Card Acceptance for One Year

Stuttgart/Frankfurt – S-Payment, a subsidiary of DSV Group, and PAYONE, a joint venture of Worldline and DSV Group, are participating in the "Deutschland zahlt digital" initiative for the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe.

The initiative aims to support small merchants and businesses that have not yet adopted cashless payment methods by offering a one-year period of free digital payment acceptance. Eligible merchants who meet the initiative's criteria and sign an acceptance contract with S-Händlerservice via Sparkasse will be exempt from all terminal, installation, and transaction fees for 12 months from the contract start date.

S-Payment and S-Händlerservice are launching the S-POS application, which enables girocard payment acceptance. This mobile solution is the only one within the initiative that allows merchants to accept girocard payments via their smartphone. Girocard is Germany's most popular cashless payment method, holding a market share of over 70 percent in this customer segment.

The "Deutschland zahlt digital" initiative seeks to improve the acceptance of digital payment methods across Germany. Recent studies indicate that a significant portion of merchants still prefer cash or only accept card payments above a certain minimum threshold. The initiative aims to ensure consumers have genuine choice among various payment options.
