Saab Acquires German Firm Medav to Enhance Signal Intelligence
Defence and security company Saab AB has acquired 100 percent of German firm Medav, specializing in signal processing. The deal strengthens Saab's portfolio in radio monitoring and intelligence fusion systems.

Defence and security company Saab AB announced on October 26, 2012, that it has acquired 100 percent of the German company Medav. The acquisition, valued at approximately 27 million euros (around 229 million Swedish kronor), is set to bolster Saab's capabilities in radio monitoring and intelligence fusion systems.
Medav specializes in signal processing, pattern recognition, and information technology, positioning itself as a significant provider in signal, electronic, and communication intelligence. Saab stated that the acquisition will enhance its standing in radio monitoring and intelligence fusion systems and expand its market presence globally, particularly within Europe.
Saab views the acquisition as a growth platform, allowing it to leverage Medav's existing customer base and expertise in systems engineering, design, and integration. Medav's customers and partners are expected to benefit from Saab's broader product portfolio and global support operations. Medav will continue its operations in Germany as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Saab Group.
In addition to the initial purchase price, the parties have agreed on a potential earn-out payment of up to 7 million euros. Saab will finance the acquisition using existing funds. Håkan Buskhe, President and CEO of Saab AB, noted that the acquisition of Medav strengthens the company's position in the strategically important field of radio monitoring and intelligence fusion systems.
