Swedish defense company Saab and Brazilian aerospace firm Embraer have signed a Heads of Agreement (HoA) to outline the potential production of up to 20 additional Gripen aircraft. The planes would be assembled at Embraer's industrial complex in Gavião Peixoto, São Paulo state, Brazil.

Under the framework agreement, Embraer will be responsible for the aircraft assembly. This initiative aims to expand the global production capacity for the Gripen fighter jet, complementing Saab's final assembly line in Sweden. Both companies intend to conclude a definitive agreement in 2026.

The HoA deepens the existing partnership between Saab and Embraer, which began with the development and production of the Gripen E. This expansion into Brazil is expected to strengthen both companies' positions in the global defense market by leveraging Embraer's manufacturing capabilities.
