Swedish defense company Saab and Ukraine's Joint Stock Company “Ukrainian Defense Industry” (JSC UDI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore cooperation in aviation and airborne surveillance. The collaboration aims to enhance Ukraine's defense capabilities by leveraging complementary expertise.

The agreement was signed at the Munich Security Conference 2026 in Germany. The MoU outlines an intention to work together, with Saab bringing its extensive experience and technological leadership in defense systems, particularly in aerial platforms and surveillance.

JSC UDI, a significant entity within Ukraine's security and defense sector formed from state-owned enterprises, is expected to contribute its manufacturing capacity for various military hardware. Saab's involvement is anticipated to bolster Ukraine's domestic defense production and technological base.

Anders Carp, Deputy CEO of Saab, stated the company looks forward to collaborating with JSC UDI and emphasized Saab's commitment to supporting Ukraine's defense sector. This partnership aligns with ongoing international efforts to aid Ukraine's security.
