Saab Contracts to Supply Double Eagle Vehicles to Kuwait

Swedish defense and security company Saab announced on December 11, 2023, that it has received a contract from the U.S. Navy for the delivery of Double Eagle Semi-Autonomous Remotely Operated Vehicles (SAROV) to the Kuwait Naval Force. The U.S. Navy is procuring these systems for Kuwait through a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program.

The Double Eagle family of vehicles are proven and safe remotely operated vehicle (ROV) systems used by navies worldwide for mine countermeasures (MCM) missions. In the SAROV configuration, the vehicle can function as an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) for detection, classification, and identification, as well as an ROV for mine disposal.

While developed and produced by Saab in Sweden, this contract signifies an expansion of the system's production into the United States. Saab, Inc., the company's U.S. subsidiary, will manufacture components of the system in collaboration with other production sites in Sweden, the United Kingdom, and Denmark. This expansion is expected to position Saab for further growth in the U.S. market.

The contract underscores Saab's role as a key supplier of undersea systems and enhances its capability to deliver advanced solutions to the international defense sector. The company has a history of supplying similar systems to various naval forces globally.
