Swedish defense firm Saab launched the second Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) ship built for Poland, named ORP Henryk Zygalski, in Gdansk on January 14, 2026.
The vessel is the second and final SIGINT ship for Poland under the 'DELFIN' program. The first ship, ORP Jerzy Różycki, was launched on July 1, 2025. Both ships will be equipped with intelligence systems and undergo sea trials before entering service.
"We are pleased to see the second Polish SIGINT ship successfully launched today. With this important project we are strengthening cooperation between Swedish and Polish industries in support of European security in the Baltic Sea region," stated Mats Wicksell, head of Saab’s business area Kockums.
The ship-based electronic intelligence systems are designed to acquire intelligence data across the maritime electronic intelligence spectrum. Saab serves as the prime contractor for the DELFIN program, with Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. as the subcontractor for ship construction. Polish company MMC is involved in the design support, and Saab is responsible for delivering and integrating the advanced mission systems. Other entities within the Polish defense industry are also participating in the project.
