Swedish defence company Saab has secured a contract and received an initial order from the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command for its RBS 70 NG (Next Generation) missile air defence system. The order is valued at SEK 1.2 billion (approximately EUR 100 million).
The contract also includes provisions for Finland to place future orders for additional RBS 70 NG units, training, spare parts, and maintenance equipment. The Finnish Defence Forces have operated a previous version of the RBS 70 system since 2008.
The RBS 70 NG system features an advanced, laser-guided missile designed to counter various airborne threats. Saab states that the system incorporates new capabilities, including automatic target tracking and night-operation functionality, which enhance its hit probability and operational effectiveness.
