Saab Receives Mobile Air Defence Order From Lithuania

Swedish defense contractor Saab announced on December 1, 2025, that it has secured a third order for its Mobile Short Range Air Defence (MSHORAD) system from Lithuania's Defence Materiel Agency. The contract is valued at approximately 1.4 billion Swedish kronor, with deliveries scheduled between 2026 and 2030.

The Lithuanian Armed Forces will receive a third battery of the MSHORAD system. Saab will integrate the system onto JLTV 4x4 vehicles produced by Oshkosh. This integration combines the RBS 70 NG short-range air defence missile and the Giraffe 1X radar, connected via a command-and-control system and datalinks, providing rapid detection and engagement capabilities against aerial threats.

Görgen Johansson, head of Saab's Dynamics business area, expressed pride in the company's continued contribution to Lithuania's air security. He stated that the system is designed to counter advanced threats, enabling users to prepare for and react effectively to unexpected situations.

The MSHORAD system is a vehicle-integrated mobile air defence solution designed to protect moving military units. It comprises mobile radar and firing units, leveraging the RBS 70 NG missile and Giraffe 1X radar, all managed through a GBAD C2 system. The solution offers efficient detection, identification, and engagement of airborne threats.
