Saab receives order for two GlobalEye aircraft for Sweden
Saab has secured an order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for two GlobalEye Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft. Deliveries are scheduled for 2027, with the order valued at approximately SEK 7.3 billion.

Stockholm – Swedish defence company Saab announced it has received an order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for two GlobalEye Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft. The contract, valued at approximately SEK 7.3 billion, includes deliveries planned for 2027 and covers the period 2022-2027. The agreement also contains options for FMV to procure up to two additional GlobalEye aircraft.
The GlobalEye aircraft will be equipped with Saab's Erieye Extended Range radar, boasting a detection range exceeding 550 kilometers. The system integrates advanced sensors and a command and control system onto the Bombardier Global 6000 aircraft platform. The initial two aircraft are slated for delivery in 2027.
Saab President and CEO Micael Johansson stated that the order will enhance Sweden's defence capabilities. GlobalEye is designed to provide comprehensive early warning and control over air, sea, and land, offering real-time threat detection and situational awareness to the Swedish Armed Forces. The capability can also support civilian society tasks.
This acquisition is expected to significantly bolster the Swedish Armed Forces' joint situational awareness and threat identification capabilities. The order underscores the ongoing modernization efforts within Sweden's air defence capabilities.
