Saab secures U.S. Army contract and advances unmanned radar capabilities

The U.S. Army has awarded Saab a $22.4 million contract for Vehicle Tactical Engagement Simulation System (VTESS) base kits. The order, placed under the Bridge to Enduring Synthetic Training Environment Tactical Engagement Simulation Systems (BEST MAC) contract, includes a total potential value of $60.8 million over the next five years.

In parallel with its simulation business, Saab has advanced its aerial surveillance technology. The company successfully executed the first flight of an unmanned Airborne Early Warning (AEW) solution in collaboration with General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. The system integrates Saab’s LoyalEye radar sensor with the GA-ASI MQ-9B unmanned aircraft, aiming to enhance decision-making capabilities in surveillance operations.

These developments signify Saab's continued focus on digital training environments and sensor integration. By securing long-term defense contracts and demonstrating new technological capabilities, the company maintains its footprint in the international aerospace and defense market.
