Saab to Deliver Coastal Surveillance System to Croatia

Swedish defense and security company Saab has secured a contract to deliver a coastal surveillance system to Croatia, aimed at bolstering the security of the nation's maritime borders. The system is scheduled to become operational by June 2016.

The new system will integrate real-time data from advanced radar sensors, long-range and thermal closed-circuit television cameras, and the Automatic Identification System (AIS). These sensors will be strategically positioned along Croatia's coastline and connected to multiple control centers, creating one of Europe's most sophisticated maritime monitoring networks.

The system will be operated by the Croatian Ministry of Interior's Border Police. This contract represents an expansion of Croatia's existing coastal surveillance capabilities, building upon a system previously delivered by Saab in 2010 for the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure. Anders Carp, head of Saab's Traffic Management unit within Electronic Defence Systems, highlighted Croatia's continued trust in Saab's technology.

This enhancement allows for the detection, identification, tracking, and monitoring of vessels, providing crucial information for maintaining coastal security.
