Saab to develop next-generation flight control computer for Gripen
The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has awarded Saab a SEK 1.3 billion contract to develop new flight control hardware for the Gripen fighter aircraft.

Saab has secured a SEK 1.3 billion order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) to develop a next-generation flight control computer for its Gripen fighter platform. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in 2030.
The initiative replaces current flight control hardware with a new system designed to enhance long-term performance, reliability, and security of supply. The flight control computer remains a critical component of the aircraft's avionics architecture, responsible for precise maneuverability and flight safety.
Marcus Wandt, head of Saab’s Aeronautics business area, stated that the project is essential for maintaining the operational capability of the Gripen fleet for decades to come. The development will be conducted in close collaboration with Swedish defense authorities.
